Song of the Summer
A brand-new gig theatre piece written and directed by Tristan Jackson-Pate and co-produced by Cherwell Theatre Company and Royal & Derngate.
A youth ensemble of local young people aged 14+ perform alongside professional actor musicians in this coming-of-age comedy drama that explores the highs and lows of teenage life. Set in Northampton in 2006 and featuring original indie rock music inspired by the era, the play dramatises the tension between friendship and artistic integrity, and the joys of creating music with the world at your feet.
The project is produced in partnership by Cherwell Theatre Company, Royal & Derngate and The Picturedrome. It has been made possible due to support from Arts Council England, Garfield Weston Foundation, Northamptonshire Community Foundation, The Garrick Charitable Trust and West Northamptonshire Council.
